DESCRIPTION:2 Nov: Lessons Learned from Climate and Human Rights \n\n\nSat\, 2 Nov 2019\n9:00 AM – 12:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBecause  event on 11 Oct is booked out – we wish to summarise lessons learned from this event for our members   Led by Sr Wendy Flannery.  \n  \nFriends of the Earth Climate Frontlines\, The University of Queensland’s Human Rights Consortium\, the Pacific Islands Council of Queensland and Pacific Climate Warriors 350 invite you to be part of our one-day human rights and climate change conference. \nBOOKED OUT This one-day event will bring together speakers from across Australia and the Pacific to identify the specific human rights\, including Indigenous rights\, challenged by the climate crisis. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nIntroduction\nThe United Nations Association of Australia (NSW) has launched a United Nations Diploma in June 2019. The concept is to train individuals in the history\, structure and operations of the United Nations. Inclusive in this will be several competency-based subjects that will give the student recognisable skills that can be used in either UN work or their own career. \n\n\n\n\nCourse Structure\nThe structure of the UN Diploma course is as follows: \n\nStarting: 25 October 2019\nFriday night lectures: 6 – 8pm\nDuration: 16 weeks\nCovering: Eight subjects and four competencies\n\nThe course uses Competency-Based Training\, the key competency being Project Planning. This can be utilised for the planning of UNAA (NSW) functions. Aligned with this are four assessments based upon what has been taught and the student’s ability to plan a project.
