The Future We Want: Art Exhibition Prelaunch

December 12, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free – $10

Join the UNAA Young Professionals Queensland for our final event for 2020- a digital pre-launch of our upcoming 2021 “The Future We Want – Exhibition: “Sustainable Development Goals Through Art”!

This pre-launch event will feature spoken word performance, thought-provoking discussions, and a display of upcoming works that embody hope, the renewal of strength, and a call-to-action around “The Future We Want”, our online event focus for 2020. This event will be hosted online, Saturday, December 12th at 5PM AEST/ 6PM AEDT via the platform Hopin.

The online pre-launch will feature:

  • Spoken word performance by Councillor for Gabba Ward, Jonathan Sri
  • Panel discussion and Q&A: “The value of creative expression and the mobilising power of art”
  • Introductions to selected 2021 exhibition artworks by the pieces’ creators

By showcasing art that speaks to “The Future We Want”,  we aim to demonstrate the ability of local community to organise, provide renewed hope, and most importantly, drive to take small, necessary steps towards a more sustainable future.

Then in June 2021 we will come together in person to celebrate the exhibition in full, with live performances including spoken word, song, and dance. We hope to see you online Saturday, December 12, and in-person for the full celebration next year!

As always, we respectfully acknowledge that this online event will be hosted by individuals on the land of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples, as well as watched by others from across many Nations. The entire United Nations Young Professionals organisation pays our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

This event is occurring online via Hopin. You will be emailed the Hopin link details upon successful registration. You need a Hopin account to listen in, which you can create for free, and we recommend you stream it through Chrome or Firefox to avoid any technical difficulties. If you have any questions for our panellists, there will be a dedicated time in the event to ask them.

This event is family-friendly, and all are welcome! This event has both paid (limited) and free tickets, with optional donations. Ticket fees contribute to the running of this digital event on the Hopin platform and any donations will contribute towards the necessary funds for the exhibition program in June 2021. You will receive dial-in details and speaker bios in the virtual event hub; this is sent via email shortly after you register. All donations are gratefully accepted.
