UNAA NSW United Nations Diploma

October 25, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

Introduction

The United Nations Association of Australia (NSW) has launched a United Nations Diploma in June 2019. The concept is to train individuals in the history, structure and operations of the United Nations. Inclusive in this will be several competency-based subjects that will give the student recognisable skills that can be used in either UN work or their own career.

Course Structure

The structure of the UN Diploma course is as follows:

  • Starting: 25 October 2019
  • Friday night lectures: 6 – 8pm
  • Duration: 16 weeks
  • Covering: Eight subjects and four competencies

The course uses Competency-Based Training, the key competency being Project Planning. This can be utilised for the planning of UNAA (NSW) functions. Aligned with this are four assessments based upon what has been taught and the student’s ability to plan a project. The four assessments will focus on:

a. The student’s knowledge of the United Nations,

b. The student’s ability to plan a UN function or event

c.  The student’s ability to:

  • Manage a conflict

  • Develop and use emotional intelligence,

  • Develop a project, and

  • Make a presentation
