Eliminating Nuclear Weapons: Australia’s Role

September 15, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Australia has played a prominent role in nuclear disarmament for over fifty years. Our diplomats share credit for foundational treaties including the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, and have been major contributors to international organisations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and the South Pacific Nuclear-Free Zone, pioneers in vital instruments such as Strengthened Safeguards, and sponsors of ground-breaking 1.5 track initiatives the Canberra Commission and the International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament.

We invite you to join the UNAA and our distinguished speaker Ambassador for Arms Control and Counter-Proliferation Ian Biggs to discuss Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament and Australia’s efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons including at the recent 10th Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
